Helping Little Learnersrs Build Big Futures

Who We Are

Nestled in the heart of Rancho Mission Viejo, our Montessori Academy on the Ranch school was created specifically for the families who call this neighborhood home. Here, your child is not one of hundreds of faces passing through the halls. They are known by name, celebrated for who they are, and supported by guides who take the time to understand their strengths, interests, and unique way of learning. We believe childhood should be filled with wonder, independence, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to discover the world. Through authentic Montessori education, a close-knit community, and a nurturing environment, we help your little one build the confidence and skills they need for success in school and in life.

There are not enough words to show the gratitude I have for this school. My older son started attending Montessori Academy on the Ranch in August 2019 and he is excelling in elementary school. I have to give a huge thanks to the teachers for tailoring his work period to him and meeting him where he was developmentally. My younger son also started here in April 2022 and still attends. He has grown so much. When he first started he could barely walk and talk at 18 months. Within a few months his vocabulary expanded along with his motor skills. His teachers truly focused on his specific development needs as well. Both my kids learned how to be confident, independent and complete basic tasks, such as clean up after themselves, get dressed, ask for things in a polite manner, etc. The school also does a wonderful job of potty training our kids! I didn’t have to do anything! Both my boys absolutely adore the teachers and the staff is wonderful and gets to know you on a personal level. We love the school so much we decided to stay here even though T-K was an option for both kids! Thank you to Tamara, Michelle, Tia, and the rest of the staff for the impact you made on my kids! We are so grateful!

The teachers and staff are second to none. It’s what drew us in 4.5 years ago and what keeps us there to this day.

I love the staff there! My son's teacher Ms. Marisol. She made what would have been the toughest transition, for a 20-month old kid who never spoke any English from home, to Montessori Toddler program, to a very smooth one within 2 months. We already noticed so much development from our son after 3.5 months. The office staff Ms. Tamara and Ms. Tia just made every day a very pleasant start and finish for our family. The activities at the Montessori and the monthly events keep our kids highly engaged and learning of new cultures and festive! We just love everything Montessori at the Ranch has to offer!!! We just love it so much and cannot wait to send our younger daughter there once she is 18-month old!!!

Our Story

Montessori Academy on the Ranch was founded with a simple but meaningful vision: to provide families in Rancho Mission Viejo with an authentic Montessori school that feels deeply connected to the community it serves.

From the beginning, our school was designed to be more than just where your child learns academic skills. We wanted to create an environment where your little one could develop confidence, independence, kindness, and a genuine sense of belonging. A place where families know one another, guides form lasting relationships with students, and learning feels joyful and purposeful every day.

Today, we are part of the Endeavor Schools family, which is a network of schools united by a shared commitment to safety, quality, strong leadership, and meaningful early childhood education. For our Rancho Mission Viejo families, this partnership means the warmth and personal connection of a close-knit local school, strengthened by the resources and high standards of a respected national organization.

Our Campus reflects that same care. Located on Esencia Drive and surrounded by parks, trails, and beautiful natural spaces, your child grows up connected to the world around them. Nature becomes an extension of the classroom, encouraging curiosity, observation, and appreciation for the environment.

As School Leader Tamara Kim shares, "Our school is special because we were created specifically for this community. The grounds are beautiful, the guides make their classrooms beautiful, and we work collaboratively and respectfully with our families and staff."

The Montessori philosophy teaches us that every child is naturally driven to learn, explore, and grow. Rather than pushing children through a one-size-fits-all educational model, we respect each child's individual development and allow learning to unfold at a pace that feels right for them.

That same belief shapes every classroom at Montessori Academy on the Ranch today. We understand that the relationships your child forms during these early years can leave an imprint that lasts a lifetime.

Our Mission

Our mission is to give your child a safe, nurturing place to grow through project and play-based education, meaningful relationships, and daily experiences that build confidence. Our experienced team focuses on supporting early childhood development in ways that help your child feel secure, capable, and ready for what comes next.

Our Vision

We want your child to feel like they belong the moment they walk into our classrooms. When children feel safe and supported, their confidence grows, their curiosity opens up, and their love for learning begins to develop naturally.

Our Curriculum

Our project and play-based curriculum is designed around how your little one actually learns to help develop a love for lifelong learning. Through free play, structured activities, and intentional teacher-led instruction, your little child will develop language, writing, physical coordination, and problem-solving skills. These are not just classroom skills, they are life skills that will support them through their school journey and beyond.

What Makes Our Montessori School Different?

What truly makes Montessori Academy on the Ranch different from any other school is the sense of togetherness your family experiences here. Because we primarily serve families in Rancho Mission Viejo and the surrounding neighborhood, our school has become a friendly village where relationships matter. Families see familiar faces every morning, siblings often follow one another into our programs, and our guides build lasting connections with families that continue for years.

"Although there are other Montessori schools nearby, we ensure there is a strong sense of community because our school is very close-knit," says Tamara Kim, our School Leader. "We serve the families in our community, and they thrive because of that connection."

This connection extends into every classroom. Rather than standing at the front of the room directing a group, our Montessori guides work alongside your child throughout the day. They observe carefully, provide individualized lessons, and support each learner based on their developmental readiness. This allows your little one to move forward with steadiness rather than under pressure. We often tell families that no two Montessori journeys look exactly alike, because no two children are exactly alike.

Parents also tell us they appreciate the balance we provide between independence and security. While your child is encouraged to explore freely in the classroom, your family can feel confident knowing that our campus prioritizes safety through secure entrances, restricted access points, and carefully supervised learning environments.

Most importantly, Montessori Academy on the Ranch is a place where your child can be themselves and learn to believe in themselves.

Early Childhood Leadership & Staff

Every guide on our staff meets California's state-required qualifications, including completion of 12 early childhood education units. Our Montessori lead guides are enrolled in or have completed accredited Montessori training. All staff members complete pesticide training, mandated reporter training, and thorough criminal background checks before working with your child. Beyond their credentials, our guides are here because they genuinely love what they do and believe wholeheartedly in the Montessori philosophy.

Tamara Kim

School Leader, Montessori Academy on the Ranch

Tamara has been dedicated to early childhood education since 2006, starting her career as a kindergarten guide in a Montessori environment before moving into school leadership in 2014. What Tamara loves most about her role at Montessori Academy on the Ranch is the connection she builds every day with parents, students, and staff.

Achievements & Accreditations

At Montessori Academy on the Ranch, children build strong academic foundations while growing in confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. Based on internal assessments aligned with national standards, by the end of their first Montessori cycle, 98% of our students meet or exceed first-grade readiness benchmarks, with 97% reading at or above a first-grade level and 98% meeting grade-level expectations in mathematics. Through hands-on Montessori learning and personalized guidance from our trained guides, children develop the skills, curiosity, and confidence they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

"It is amazing to be able to shape our future generations and our future leaders. I always remember my preschool teachers because they had such an impact on my early childhood. When children are seen as curious, capable people who are genuinely excited about life, and when you show up for them every day with that belief, it changes everything."

- Tamara Kim, School Leader, Montessori Academy on the Ranch.
